Ulrich graduated as a civil engineer in Vienna in 1988 and spent 5 years in engineering and
construction activities in Austria and Germany. He joined the oil industry about 15 years ago,
working as environmental engineer in remediation and abandonment projects of refineries and
petrol stations. In 1999 he joined OMV Exploration &Production establishing the HSEQ Management
system for its worldwide operations. Working in Australia and New Zealand provided him insight
views in offshore production operations in a highly regulated environment. Ulrich worked then
again in Vienna as Head of operational HSEQ and is now Head of HSEQ for Petrom E&P.
He is a member of the Austrian chamber of civil engineers, a trained safety engineer and has a
qualification in managing and auditing ISO 14000 and ISO 9000 Management Systems.
